Art IIIArt III at Blue Ridge High School, is an elective offered every year for grades 9-12 and is one year in length. This course builds on fundamental art skills, techniques, and knowledge that were acquired in Art I and II. Students will continue their artistic journey focusing on the Elements and Principles of Design but become more in charge of their own artistic decisions and expression. Cross curricular connections will be made wherever possible. Specific Themes for exploration through art will help students use their work to relate to the larger world. Opportunities for independent research and artistic experiences enhance the creative thinking process and allow students to “think outside of the box”, as well as promote self-motivation and expression. Artistic experiences include: Keeping a sketchbook, research, drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, mixed media, crafts, clay, and more. Students will participate in critique activities where they will be able to describe, interpret, analyze, and evaluate student artwork and images. Student artwork will be uploaded by each student to the online art gallery, Artsonia.
