Art IIArt II at Blue Ridge High School, is an elective offered every year for grades 9-12 and is one year in length. This course builds on fundamental art skills, techniques, and knowledge that were acquired in Art I. Students will continue their artistic journey focusing on the Elements and Principles of Design, with more in depth study of techniques, skills and artistic ideas. Cross curricular connections will be made wherever possible. This course gives students a broad range of artistic experiences that they will continue to build upon in the courses that follow. Each course, progressively becoming more choice-based as students take over responsibility for individual expression and art work. Artistic experiences include: Keeping a sketchbook, research, drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, mixed media, crafts, clay, and more. Students will participate in critique activities where they will be able to describe, interpret, analyze, and evaluate student artwork and images. Student artwork will be uploaded by each student to the online art gallery, Artsonia. As in every art course, students are encouraged to make personal and worldly connections through their artmaking experiences.
